Shopify in Orlando: AI Agents Can Now Buy From Your Store

On September 8, Meta launched Muse, a personal AI agent that does things instead of describing them. It books, emails, fills in forms, and shops. Two weeks later Shopify announced that Muse can check out on Shopify stores using Shop Pay.

If you run a Shopify store in Orlando, Clermont or anywhere along the Space Coast, your products are already in front of that agent. You didn't have to do anything.

What actually changed

A shopper tells Muse what they want. Muse searches, compares, picks a product and asks for approval. On a Shopify store, the purchase then runs through Shop Pay, inside the conversation. The shopper never opens your site, and the order still lands in your admin as your own order.

Shopify made this the default. Meta appears as an AI channel in your admin under Sales channels, then Agentic, next to ChatGPT, Google and Microsoft Copilot. Your catalog is shared with those channels unless you turn it off.

Muse is rolling out in the United States first, which puts Florida merchants at the front of the line.

Where WooCommerce stands

Muse can still buy from a WooCommerce store. It does it the slow way: it opens your site in its own browser, fills in your checkout form field by field, and pays with a one-time virtual card.

That works, but it has three weaknesses.

  • It is slower. Every form field is a step the agent has to get right.
  • It breaks more easily. A popup, a plugin conflict or an unusual checkout layout can stop the purchase.
  • You can't see it. The order looks like any other card order, so you have no idea how much of your revenue came from an agent.

There is no agentic sales channel for WooCommerce today. On Shopify the path is built in. On WooCommerce the agent is improvising.

What we would do this month

If you are on Shopify:

  1. Open Sales channels, then Agentic, and look at what is switched on. Decide on purpose, not by default.
  2. Clean up your product data. Titles, descriptions, options and images are what the agent reads. Vague product pages lose to clear ones.
  3. Make sure Shop Pay is enabled and working.

If you are on WooCommerce:

  1. Test your own checkout as a stranger would. Anything that confuses a person will stop an agent.
  2. Ask whether your store depends on features Shopify can't match. If it does not, a migration is worth pricing out before the holiday season rather than after.

A fair warning about the hype

Nobody knows yet how many people want software to shop for them. Plenty of early reaction has been skeptical, and Amazon has blocked Muse from its site entirely. This could become a major sales channel or stay a small one.

The preparation is cheap either way. Clear product data and a clean checkout help every shopper, human or not.

Shopify work in greater Orlando

We're based in Clermont and work across the Orlando metro and out toward the Space Coast. We build custom Shopify themes from scratch and handle the move over from WooCommerce. Every theme is built for one client. We don't sell templates. For stores and sites beyond Shopify, we also do custom website development in Orlando.

Some of the local work is here: Helping Small Business Excel in Greater Orlando.

If you want a second opinion on whether your store is ready for agent-driven shopping, that's a conversation we're happy to have.
